Flexible PVC
Flexible PVC products generally accept very high loadings of calcium carbonate. Flexible PVC processors use calcium carbonate to reduce formulation costs, but also to enhance mechanical and optical properties or to adapt viscosity. Calcium carbonate has many uses in flexible PVC, including cable, flooring, synthetic leather, wall covering, tarpaulin and plastisols.
Cable
In polyolefin cables, calcium carbonate is increasingly used in order to reduce formulation costs. However, Omya offers calcium carbonate grades that can act as a flame retardant (if compounded with the right polymer and additives).
In order to achieve the most cost efficient solution, cable producers can choose from a broad range of calcium carbonates for all their applications. Our range of Omyalite®, Omyacarb® and local grades near you offer you a world of solutions, from the finest surface treated products suitable for thin cable insulation to coarser grades for bedding material.
Flooring
The main role of calcium carbonate is to reduce formulation costs. Depending on the processing (calendaring or coating) and final requirements, Omya offers several solutions based on whiteness and particle size distribution.Plastisols
A wide range of calcium carbonate grades are available to suit your final application: leather cloth, wall-covering, tarpaulin, and automotive undersealing.Calcium carbonate needs to be selected carefully because it will influence surface quality, tactile properties, aging resistance, and processing properties.
Innovation
Significant investment in research and development ensures that Omya fillers and pigments satisfy tomorrow’s requirements today.
